Trying Hard To Stop but it’s not working

As someone with ADHD, I subscribe to a bunch of ADHD-related content. HowToADHD is one of my favorites. So when I watched this video, even though it was directed at people with ADHD it's completely relevant to anyone with addictive behaviors too.

HowToADHD Don't Try Harder, Try Different!

Working with people in addiction, I recognize people are trying very hard but not having success. In meetings that I facilitate and when talking to peers in recovery, I talk about trying to push a car that has the Emergency brake on. It doesn't matter how hard you try, will power or physical power won't move that car. BUT.... if you listen to someone else who says, "You might want to release the emergency brake." all of a sudden, you have to work sooooo much less and that car actually moves! Maybe, if we listen to others who might know a thing or two, we can learn better ways and all of a sudden it becomes FAR easier to get what we’re after.

If you think you might have ADHD or you DO have ADHD, HowToADHD is a great channel to subscribe to. They have tips, tricks, info on understanding it all. Check out all of their videos. Well… MOST of their videos. Like 90%. 93%. Maybe 95%. Oh WHATEVER, just go look!
